FREE CLASSES IN DURANGO
Meet on Tuesdays, 10:00-11:15AM, starting July 29

These classes offer a safe and supportive environment for anyone exploring how to navigate addictive tendencies, those who are "sober curious," or individuals in recovery from addiction. We aim to enhance overall well-being and quality of life, regardless of where you are on your journey.

During these classes, you will be offered:

  • Compassionate discussion on the deeper causes and patterns of addictive habits.
  • Gentle, body-centered movement, breathwork, and meditation practices to support self-regulation and inner peace.
  • Practical tools to be used in everyday life that will empower you on your path of healing and self-discovery.

Classes are open to anyone seeking to address their addictive habits or explore a sober-curious lifestyle, whether you are relatively new to the paths of yoga and recovery, or have extensive experience in both.

These classes are not front-line treatment for addiction.

Classes meet at the Smiley Building, Room 20A in Durango.

Classes are free to participants based on a grant from the Southwest Opioid Response District. Registration is required, see below. Space for in-person is limited (8 students max). Livestream option is available.

Class Instructor

Elyse Perry

Movement has been medicine for Elyse since she was a young girl growing up and playing in the woods of the Hudson Valley of New York. At a very young age she began taking ballet and tap classes and devoted much of her early life to dance. She discovered yoga her senior year of college and after moving from New York to San Francisco quickly fell in love with the flowing movements of a vinyasa practice. She has been a student of yoga for 25 years learning from many teachers, including Seane Corne, Hala Khouri and Hannah Muse. Yoga was instrumental in her getting sober and is one of the pillars of her 2+ years in recovery. She believes through the practice of yoga we remember our true nature and can find our way home to ourselves. She is passionate about sharing the practice of yoga with others on their paths of recovery. She completed her RYT-200 with Samdhana Yoga and Alicia Cheung in Bali and has been teaching since 2023. She is currently a yoga therapist in training with Inner Peace Yoga Therapy.
