This program provides hands-on experience as you guide three clients through comprehensive intake and kosha-based assessments, develop individualized yoga therapy treatment plans (including contraindications), and document their journey through detailed case studies. You'll receive expert mentorship and participate in collaborative case study presentations, ensuring you gain the practical knowledge and confidence to offer truly holistic and compassionate care in this vital area.

Key Dates:

  • June 17, 12- 12pm MT: Mentorship kickoff and overview with Anne Pitman
  • July or Aug, scheduled on your own: 1:1 calls with your assigned mentor
  • August 8, 2-4pm MT: Group Zoom check in with Smitha Mallaiah
  • October 3, 2-4pm MT: Closing presentations on Zoom with Michele & Smitha

Structure of Mentorship:

  • Attend June 17 Zoom kickoff & overview with Anne (or watch replay)
  • Client Selection: Choose three (3) clients who are either currently undergoing cancer treatment or are in recovery. Mandatory: At least one client must be currently in treatment for cancer or have recently completed treatment within the last month.
  • Client Intake & Assessment: Intake: Gather essential client information using the provided intake form, ensuring you capture their specific goals, needs, and reasons for seeking yoga therapy. Assessment: Conduct a comprehensive client assessment, considering each of the five Koshas.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop an appropriate yoga therapy treatment plan for each client, based on your intake and assessment findings. Simplicity is key: Each plan should be concise, featuring a maximum of 5-8 key postures, movements, or other yoga techniques (e.g., pranayama, mantra, meditation, mudra). Identify and clearly list any postures or practices that would be contraindicated for the client's current condition.
  • Case Study Documentation: Write up three (3) full case studies, one for each client, using the provided template. Each case study should summarize: The client's current state and goals for yoga therapy. Key findings from your client assessment. The complete yoga therapy treatment plan, including contraindications. Client follow-up, feedback, and reactions to the treatment plan. Your own self-reflection on your interactions and the therapeutic process.
  • Case Study Presentation: Present the key findings from one (1) of your client case studies during our final Zoom call. A specific format and time limit for your presentation will be provided in advance.
